Kate Walsh Pictures: All Smiles

Just a couple of recent Kate Walsh photos we couldn't resist posting. The Private Practice star is all smiles these days, with a new husband (Fox movie production executive Alex Young, right) and her show being picked up for a full season by ABC. She's sitting pretty, and we couldn't be happier. Go Kate!

"In Which Addison Finds a Showerhead" Clips

Below is a clip from this week's episode of Private Practice, the fifth of Season One, entitled "In Which Addison Finds a Showerhead." That showerhead is a topic of conversation in the preview below, in which Addison, Violet and Naomi talk about - what else - sex, and whether it's a two-player affair...

Looks like another good one for the hit Grey's Anatomy spin-off. Follow the jump for another clip from the episode, in which Addison is in the bathroom and finds Maya (daughter of Sam and Naomi), who has a startling confession.

Barack Obama, Kate Walsh Talk Private Practice

Barack Obama, the Democratic Illinois Senator and presidential candidate, may be on a whirlwind, year-long tour of the country campaigning to be the nation's chief executive, but he's not completely out of the fall TV loop.

When he spotted avid supporter Kate Walsh at his October 20 fundraiser in Hancock Park, Calif., he went over to the redhead to talk about her new Grey's Anatomy spin-off and bona fide hit, Private Practice.

"So great to see you!" Barack Obama said. "How's the new show?"

"It's going really well," Kate Walsh replied.

The talented actress, 40, was there with her husband of nearly two months, 20th Century Fox production executive Alex Young. The couple first went public at a fundraiser for Barack Obama, 46.

As for Barack Obama's diagnosis on Private Practice:

"I'm always out campaigning ... I haven't been able to watch it so I can't give you a review," he admitted, "but I'm sure it's great."

We happen to think he's right!

Despite his busy schedule, Barack Obama will have plenty of opportunities to check out the series, as it was recently renewed for a full season!

Promo For Episode Five of Private Practice

In this week's episode of Private Practice, the fifth of this first season, entitled "In Which Addison Finds a Showerhead," Addison is clearly angling for some loving... but will Pete oblige? Meanwhile, Sam and Naomi's daughter visits the clinic with some interesting news ...

David Sutcliffe Coming to Private Practice

After trying to keep Gilmore Girls' Lorelai and Luke apart, this is gonna be a cakewalk for actor David Sutcliffe, according to TV Guide.

Several sources report that he is being added to the Private Practice cast as a love interest for none other than Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh).

Does this mean Addison and Pete Wilder (Tim Daly) might not be as flirty and hot for one another as the first few episodes have implied?

Don't expect things to go smoothly there, insiders say. But for Sutcliffe, at least, it ought to be a breeze. Whereas on Gilmore Girls, Lorelai and Luke had a legion of supporters, Private Practice's Addison and Pete have scarcely begun courting.

Come what may, we're excited for the addition of the handsome David Sutcliffe to the cast, for however long or whatever capacity he is given on the series.

Private Practice Granted a Full Season By ABC

It's official! The Grey's Anatomy spinoff, Private Practice, has earned the trust of ABC and has been picked up for a full season, according to E! Online.

This is just the second new series to get picked up for a full 2007-08 television series. The CW's Gossip Girl was the first.

Sam and Addison

This week's episode of Private Practice, "In Which Addison Has a Very Casual Get Together," averaged approximately 12 million viewers, down from its premiere, but solidifying it as a bona fide success after just four episodes.

We hear that David Sutcliffe was also recently cast as a possible new love interest for Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh). Very interesting!

Congrats to Kate, the whole Private Practice cast and its writing team. We're looking forward to a full season - and hopefully many more.

Private Practice: Memorable Moments, Good & Bad

We've already given you the blow-by-blow of last night's episode of Private Practice, "In Which Addison Has a Very Casual Get Together," in our episode guide, and given you the chance to sound off in our forums. Now, here's a brief recap of what we liked, disliked and remembered most about last night ...

Dr. Freedman

The positives: Cooper hit on Violet! Well, sort of. Almost. Kinda. In any event, it's obvious he is leaning in that direction, even if he won't or hasn't yet said it aloud. Along similar lines, Pete is sooo into Addison. His patient told us! We also liked Sam helping the pregnant patient and how Cooper bonded with the teen whose gay crush - and the fallout from confessing it - pushed him to the brink.

The not-so-positives: The humor doesn't always click with the drama as well as Grey's Anatomy, despite the writers' efforts to walk that line. Sometimes it seems Private Practice isn't quite sure what it is yet, or what it wants to become. However, we must remember that it's still early.

Some great moments:

  • Cooper to a struggling Violet: "Violet... step away from the pee."
  • From one woman trying to deal with inner turmoil to another - Violet, to Addison: "You're a little bit crazy. I like you."
  • After finding Cooper practicing his speech, when Pete asks him: "Were you just saying ‘I love you' to your genitals?" We saw that one coming a mile away, but a well-delivered scene by both actors.

The question will be if these moments can begin to flow better with the fairly heavy material that defines these episodes and these characters.

Right now, we're still willing to give Private Practice good grades, but there's room for improvement! Here's hoping the potential is reached.
