Sad about Merrin

I am really bummed that Merrin Dungey is no longer part of the cast.  She was the main reason I was going to watch the show.  She was one of my favorite people from Alias.  I am really sad is gone and I am not really sure I still want to watch the show.  Too bad.

It's interesting that Merrin was a major draw for people to watch the show, because, aside from enjoying Kate Walsh's portrayal of Addison, I will watch because of Audra (nothing against Merrin, of course). The whole cast is great. But Audra McDonald? Of course I'm there. This woman, she has so much talent, I can't even explain it. I hope the show works out because I think her 4 Tonys are lonely for an Emmy. And if someone could explain to me why she hasn't yet got a Grammy, I'm all ears, because it makes no sense to me.

I never watched Alias, save for a few snippets here and there.  I was open to whomever was cast in the role.  It just happened that after watching the pilot ep, Merrin and Walsh's characters didn't jive.  There was a disconnect that seriously left me questioning why on earth these two women would be friends, let alone the draw for Addison to start elsewhere all over again.

Audra's character gels with Kate's.  There's  a good friendship vibe there, and since the whole basis of PP is Addison's friendship ties to her best friend, (crystallized in the second ep) a recast in the role has added depth to the relationship.
