Looks like Kate Walsh's short-lived marriage may have been falling apart even sooner than thought - by a couple of days, anyway.

A little less than two weeks after her husband filed for divorce, the Private Practice cast member submitted her own paperwork asking for a permanent split from 20th Century Fox movie executive Alex Young.

Both parties cite irreconcilable differences as the reason their 15-month union ended so soon, but while Young's filing listed their date of separation as November 22, Walsh's counter-filing has the break coming five days earlier.

Not in question is the fact that the duo tied the knot September 1, 2007, in front of more 100 guests and some of Walsh's former Grey's Anatomy co-stars.

There has been speculation that David Sutcliffe, who plays SWAT team officer Kevin Nelson on Private Practice, may have played some sort of role (however indirect) in the couple's split, but that's all it is - speculation.

Merry Christmas from Private Practice Insider. With Season Two of Private Practice on hiatus until January 8, ABC has begun airing repeats of the show in its new Thursday, 10 p.m. time slot. Tonight's repeat is the third of this season.

In a case of life imitating art, Kate Walsh, who recently split with husband Alex Young, is now single on screen as well after Addison broke up with Kevin Nelson last week.

We know Kevin is coming back in January in some capacity. In the meantime, the doctors at Oceanside aren’t exactly known for dry spells, and Addison is no exception.

Jay Harrington will be guest starring on Private Practice as Wyatt, a doctor from a competing practice. He says the sexual tension between them will escalate.

“[Their interaction] certainly starts off with sparks,” says Harrington. “He’s a bit of a misogynist and rubs her the wrong way. But as things go on and they work closer.”

But whatever happens, chances are Addison and Wyatt won’t have a long-term flame. Harrington, who had a 7-episode arc on Desperate Housewives in 2006, will be starring in ABC’s new half-hour comedy, Better Off Ted, with Portia de Rossi.

Until then, the Syracuse alumnus, who went to college with Taye Diggs, is enjoying his time on the set of Private Practice - and its lead star in particular.

“She’s a lot of fun to work with,” he says of Walsh.

“The tension between the two of us is fun.”

As they held each other at Katherine Heigl's birthday party, no one would have thought anything was wrong between Kate Walsh and her husband of 14 months.

"They were dancing up a storm, having a really good time together," a Star magazine source says of Kate Walsh and Alex Young, a movie studio executive.

"There were no signs that there was any trouble in paradise."

Yet just a week after Katherine's November 15 bash at her mother's L.A. house, Kate and hubby Alex Young called it quits, according to divorce papers.

So what went wrong in such a short time between the Private Practice cast member and her husband? Friends say one of the main reasons her marriage has gone south has been Kate's growing closeness with David Sutcliffe.

That's the divorced hunk who plays her love interest on Private Practice. As Kate's Dr. Addison Montgomery and David's character, Kevin Nelson, have grown closer since he turned up at Oceanside Wellness, so have the actors.

"Kate really likes David, and knowing that didn't help Alex's fragile ego," a friend of the actress says. "Kate and David had a real connection playing lovers on the show, and she didn't seem to have that with her own husband."

Tonight, Private Practice returns to ABC with another new episode, "Worlds Apart."

It's the last Private Practice of 2008, and the last before its big Thursday move.

On this evening's episode, Meg returns to Los Angeles and discovers that Pete and Violet are considerably closer. Check out the sneak preview below!

Meanwhile, Kevin questions the direction he and Addison are headed, Cooper treats a young diabetic boy with a mysterious past; and Charlotte and her team of Pacific Wellcare doctors continue to siphon business away from Oceanside.
