Private Practice: Add Hot SWAT Guy, STAT

The woman behind Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice recently gave E! tons of gossip, rumors and spoilers for the upcoming season.

We'll dispense with the intro and get right to the scoop. Check out what Shonda Rhimes said, then share your reactions:

Rhimes and Walsh

Q: What's in store for Addison this year?

Shonda Rhimes: We're going to see a lot more of her love life. I don't think we've ever seen Addison in a relationship; we've seen Addison trying to get her husband back, but we've never seen Addison in a relationship.

Q: Is this the SWAT guy?

Shonda Rhimes: Yes, David Sutcliffe, who is very SWAT-y and cute. SWAT guys are sexier, so that's why he's a SWAT guy now.

Q: What about Pete?

Shonda Rhimes: She's going to have some choices to make because Pete is still in the background for her, and there might be some other guys in there for her. I think it might be nice to see a single, grown woman dating and trying to figure out what that means.

More Private Practice Season 2 Spoilers!

What's to come in the long-awaited Season 2 of Private Practice? Will Addy find love? Will the show find its surgical/romance balance?

We've already discussed these questions in detail already - but as October 1 nears, more Private Practice spoilers are emerging.

Michael Ausiello of EW and Kristin Veitch of E! Online each have some new, interesting info on the Private Practice spoiler front ...

Q: Can you give me some Private Practice scoop?

A: Here's a neat casting note: Shonda Rhimes is looking for a "star name" to play a charming new doctor in his 30s.

Q: Any news on my beloved Addison?

A: Addison will be tangling with Dr. Charlotte King a lot this season. And speaking of Dr. King, if I had to bet, I'd also say Charlotte and Cooper (Paul Adelstein) are still a thing. Said KaDee Strickland, "If you like our chemistry, I think you're going to love watching us this year. We're having a blast."

Q: I'm really craving new Private Practice episodes. Got any scoop to tide me over, especially about my beloved boy Dell?

A: According to Chris Lowell ... "They're digging up a lot of Dell's past. Around episode 6-7, people come out of the woodwork from ancient Dell times who may or may not have been romantically affiliated with him."

Kate Walsh Speaks on Private Practice Love Life

Private Practice star Kate Walsh promises that despite Season One being cut short by the writers’ strike last winter, the Grey's Anatomy spin-off will be juicier than ever when it returns this fall (October 1).

That means more fun for Addison Montgomery, who is settled into her new L.A. digs and ready to explore a love life outside the workplace.

“You’ll see Addison dating,” Walsh told People. “There’s a lot of conflict and still that kind of mad and sick balance of comedy and drama that [series creator] Shonda Rhimes is such an expert at delivering.”

Walsh said her pairing with new love interest David Sutcliffe, seen briefly in the first season as a SWAT officer, is “so fun.”

“Addison around Officer Nelson, the SWAT guy, is different than what comes out around Pete Wilder (Tim Daly) or [Grey's Anatomy stars] Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) or Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) or anyone else that you’ve seen,” the Private Practice leading lady said.

“It’s really fun to see this total other side of her come out that we never saw. It hit me, this little epiphany of like, ‘Oh, we’ve never seen Addison into someone or someone that likes her back.’”

Walsh revealed that Addison is also stronger and more centered after finally adjusting to her life after relocating to Santa Monica. Continue Reading...

Shonda Rhimes, Private Practice Cast Tease Season Two Stories, Character Development

While Private Practice executive producer Shonda Rhimes says that the show's medical stories will include more surgery and medical / ethical dilemmas this season, she insists there is no "conscious tweaking" going on.

"My characters end up doing what I'm doing at the time," she told TV Guide. "Addison was finding her footing [last season] because I was finding my footing with the show. Addison is stronger now."

So how will Season 2 play out with the rest of the Private Practice cast? Here's what they had to say about their new story lines...

Taye Diggs, Kate Walsh, Shonda Rhimes

Kate Walsh (Dr. Addison Montgomery): "You actually start to see Addison have a personal life. Addison has never been happy: Derek was always like, 'Get away,' Sloan was just after one thing, and Karev was just this curmudgeon. Now there's some fun and romance for her."

Taye Diggs (Dr. Sam Bennett): "It seems as if we're going in a direction where you see the inner workings of Sam, which are not like his outside, where he seems calm, cool and collected. It's been really fun to play."

Chris Lowell (William "Dell" Parker): "Dell is not the kid," says Rhimes. "I want to find a way to make his midwifery stories interesting and compelling."Continue Reading...

Taye Diggs Calls Out Elisabeth Hasselbeck

As you may have heard, last week Elisabeth Hasselbeck got emotional during a debate with Whoopi Goldberg over the use of the n-word on The View.

To make a long story short, Hasselbaeck insisted that the word should not be used to discuss or used by anyone. Whoopi responded with the idea that only members of the black community are entitled to use the word.

Now in steps Taye Diggs.

The Private Practice star told Access Hollywood Hasselbeck "doesn’t understand, and, no offense — I don’t think any white person has the right to tell a black person or to even weigh in on subject matter such as that. They don’t know what it’s like to be called that; they don’t know what it’s like to be black.”

Taye Diggs Speaks Out

Taye Diggs continued his discussion of the matter: “They can have an opinion, but... don’t take a word that you created and called me for many, many years, and then me being in my position, have the strength to change what it means in my own culture. Don’t try to take it back now. Now it’s ours. Leave it alone.”

What do you think about Taye Diggs' take - and the n-word debate in general?

Your thoughts on Kate Walsh's dress: hot or not?

Private Practice returns October 1 and ABC's entertainment president feels he's got the cure for what ails it. We sure hope so!

ABC President Has Rx For Private Practice

Much of the speculation in the Grey's Anatomy / Private Practice universe has revolved around Katherine Heigl's future with the former.

ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson said yesterday that Heigl isn't leaving - and offered his insight on Private Practice as well.

Down in L.A., Kate Walsh and company are getting a reset of sorts as Season 2 of Private Practice approaches, according to McPherson.

"In the best episodes of [Private Practice], there was still unbelievable medical drama juxtaposing against the personal drama," he said.

The prez promised more interaction with the hospital, less angst in the coffee room, and Addison back in the surgical theater.

Sounds like they've found a cure for what ailed Private Practice in its debut season - or at least are working on it!
