Taye Diggs the Ladies in Vegas

The ladies love Taye Diggs.

That much we've known since Isaiah Washington got himself into hot water on and off the set of Grey's Anatomy, prompting some fans to start speculating about Diggs stepping into the role of Dr. Preston Burke.

While Grey's and Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes was having none of that, Taye Diggs remains extremely popular with the female set... as these somewhat racy photos from a recent jaunt to Las Vegas certainly indicate!

Celebrity gossip site TMZ.com snared some pics of the Private Practice doc doing, shall we say, a little smooth operating with some girls at Vegas' PURE nightclub over the weekend....

Wow. Either his wife, Idina Menzel, is cool with this sort of thing somehow, or Taye Diggs is never going to be allowed to go to Vegas by himself again.

Shonda Rhimes Reveals Detail of Private Practice Opener

Responding to questions regarding Grey's Anatomy at the TV Critics Summer Press Tour this week, series creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes was asked a particularly intriguing one about Addison.

"Will Addison make her exit to Los Angeles on Grey's Anatomy or on Private Practice?" asked a reporter.

Breaking her own stringent policy about doling out advance story lines, Shonda Rhimes revealed the answer.

"We will see her tender her resignation to [Richard Webber] in the first episode of Private Practice."

Shonda Rhimes, Taye Diggs and Kate Walsh answer questions Thursday.

Meanwhile, at the event, Tim Daly said he is thrilled that his previous series, the critically acclaimed but ratings-imparted The Nine, will be returning to TV August 1 - even if the story lines won't be wrapped up.

And as for whether Kate Walsh (Addison) ever thinks of how she went from a guest spot on Grey's Anatomy to her own series?

"Yeah, I do," she muses. "I feel really fortunate. I could never have dreamed this. I don't mean to sound too Pollyanna-ish - I'm not. I'm actually a cynical bastard with a cold, dark heart."

Okay, then. Well, we love Kate Walsh just the same!

ABC Hopes Grey's Anatomy, Dancing Spin-Offs Deliver

Would you take a whirl with a spinooff of Dancing With the Stars? What about expanding your Grey's Anatomy universe? ABC sure hopes so.

Dance X will showcase choreographed group dancing rather than pairs. The spinoff will feature Dancing judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba, only putting together competing troupes.

Kate Walsh is Bangin

Dance X extends the Dancing With the Stars brand, said Steve McPherson, the president of ABC Entertainment.

"We've gotten really good response on the show [Dancing With the Stars] from the choreographed dances that we've done," he said.

"They are what they are in real life: choreographers. They have to decide who to take out of their groups. It's this painstaking process, which has a real emotional element to it."

Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes wanted to focus on Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh, pictured) in a spinoff, Private Practice, because the character "had kind of run her course on Grey's Anatomy."

Grey's Anatomy had "a lot of really difficult, emotional stuff going on for kind of a multitude of characters," McPherson said. "Shonda has certainly listened to some of the stuff that people didn't respond to and has changed accordingly."

The result is Private Practice, which debuts Wednesdays this fall.

Kate Walsh Discusses Private Practice, Love

With a wedding to plan and a new prime time series waiting in the wings, Kate Walsh sure is one busy lady. Us Weekly spoke with Walsh about leaving the scandalous halls of Seattle Grace for her own Private Practice this fall...

The Lovely Kate Walsh

Us: Was it difficult to leave Grey's Anatomy?
Kate Walsh: It was. But at the same time, it's such an amazing opportunity. I definitely miss my pals, but I see them socially. And I'm so excited that Grey's got nominated for an Emmy again this year... it's just amazing. But it felt like a natural time for Addison to move on. What else could she do at Seattle Grace, really?

Us: How will Private Practice differ from Grey's Anatomy?
Kate Walsh: There is the same recipe of comedy and drama in the show. But there is more humor. The thing about Addison is that she's off balance. A fish out of water. There's humor in seeing someone taken out of their environment and dropped in a place even the most professional woman freak out a little.

Us: Are you still in touch with Grey's Anatomy cast members?
Kate Walsh: I just saw them. Sara Ramirez, Katie [Katherine Heigl] and Justin Chambers. We had a drink the other night to celebrate the Emmy nominations. It was great to see them.

Private Practice: A Brief Introduction

Stoic SamProduction has begun in Los Angeles on Private Practice, the new drama from the creator of Grey's Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes, featuring an all-star cast of Kate Walsh, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs (right), Amy Brenneman and Audra McDonald.

The series will air each Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET, this fall on ABC.

For those of you who didn't catch the pilot, which was embedded in a two-part May episode of Grey's Anatomy, here's a short synopsis...

From Shonda Rhimes, the award-winning creator of Grey's Anatomy, comes Private Practice, a story about finding a way to begin the rest of your life.

Addison Forbes Montgomery is a renowned surgeon. Having left behind Seattle Grace Hospital, a broken marriage with Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd and her torn relationship with Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, Addison has moved to L.A. in search of sunnier weather and happier possibilities.

Addison reunites with her friends from med school, Naomi and Sam Bennett, joining them at their chic co-op, Oceanside Wellness Center, in Santa Monica.

Naomi, a fertility and hormone specialist and majority owner of the clinic, and Sam, an internist whose self-help books have made him the "common man's medical guru," are newly divorced.

They co-exist professionally and personally, for the sake of their teenage daughter, Maya, and their relationship is amicable, yet tense.

The center's resident pediatrician is Dr. Cooper Freedman, whose cluelessness in his profession is nothing compared to his rocky personal life. A serial Internet dater, most dates end badly for him; some in grand theft.

Cooper finds solace and counsel in his closest friend, co-op psychiatrist Dr. Violet Turner - but she's no luckier when it comes to love.

Able to deftly advise her patients with their troubled relationships, she's intense, determined, and unwilling to let outsiders see the obvious cracks in her veneer. But inside, Violet is crumbling after a recent breakup with an ex who has already moved on and married.

Dr. Pete Wilder (once thought to be named Pete Finch) is a specialist in what is referred to as alternative medicine. Attractive and assured, Pete is a "catch" by any standard - in fact, he's already caught Addison's eye, and he, hers.
