After a dramatic hour of Grey's Anatomy, Addison returned to L.A. last night - to find that her brother, Archer, hasn't changed a bit, and deal with an incredibly difficult surgical call in the form of a baby born with both sex organs.

Elsewhere, Charlotte's tough-as-nails exterior is beginning to crumble, while Violet tries to convince Sheldon to accompany her to couples' therapy.

The worlds of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice collided in an epic, two-hour episode last night in which Addison, Naomi, Sam and Archer arrived at Seattle Grace, where their old friend Derek was charged with saving his life.

In addition to one of the most suspenseful surgery scenes in recent memory, we learned a lot about our favorite characters - both past and present - in this crossover event.

And it's far from over.

Due to the unique circumstances of the shows we love merging on the same night, we've recapped the events of Grey's and Private Practice together.

A: Yes, Addison's new love interest (you know, the guy from Swingtown) will be part of a major storyline in March for five episodes.

We look forward to seeing this character. In other guest star news, Taye Diggs' wife, Idina Menzel, will also be appearing on the show soon!

Taye Diggs is bringing his home to work with him.

The Private Practice star's real-life wife, Tony winner Idina Menzel, will guest star on the ABC series later this season, TV Guide reports.

In multiple episodes, Menzel will play the mother of a patient tended to by Pete (Tim Daly). To hear one source tell it, Pete's special brand of "bedside manner" might bring about an attraction between him and Menzel's character.

At this early stage, it's unclear if Idina Menzel and her main man, who plays Sam Bennett on the Grey's Anatomy spinoff, will share many scenes.

Menzel first met Taye Diggs back in 1995, when they were both cast in the New York Theatre Workshop production of Rent.

They went on to costar in two other stage productions, including Broadway's Wicked (for which Menzel won a Tony, playing "bad witch" Elphaba).

Menzel's most recent TV gig was a pair of episodes of 2005's Kevin Hill, which starred - wait for it - a handsome fella named Taye Diggs.
